Planning your route
The route that you choose to run or ride is important. Ideally, avoid the busiest areas of the city during rush hour. Find less crowded routes or train during quieter hours.
Ride in dedicated bike lanes (or bike paths) whenever possible. If you’re biking on streets with parking lanes, beware of parked vehicles. “Dooring” – that is, colliding with a driver or passenger as they open a parked car door – is a prevalent cause of injury and death among cyclists.
