Baby Sitter Charged With Assault After NYC Boy’s Death

A 4-year-old boy is dead after police found him unconscious inside a bathtub at his baby sitter’s apartment in Hell’s Kitchen. When confronted, the baby sitter admitted to abusing the child because he was behaving poorly, although she has not admitted that her abuse was the cause of the child’s death.

New York City police believe that baby sitter Kryzie King, 27, committed child abuse at least five times. His body had an array of injuries from assault, including:

  • A missing front tooth
  • Cigarette burns
  • Other burn injuries
  • Lacerations
  • Bruises

King has been charged with assault in the first degree and reckless endangerment in the first degree. She is in police custody and faces prosecution in Manhattan Criminal Court.

King had been caring for the boy since mid-December because his father is incarcerated in New Jersey for unrelated fraud charges. He had entrusted his boy’s care to King, whose horrifying pattern of abuse is likely the cause of fatal head injuries he suffered on Jan. 8.

It is disgusting and horrifying that someone could treat a child like King allegedly did. Physical abuse is never an acceptable way to discipline child, but some day care workers and baby sitters still abuse children.

If you believe your child has been abused by someone you entrusted with his or her care, contact an experienced New York City daycare injury attorney to discuss your legal options for recovering money damages.
