Road rage is an everyday occurrence in New York City, but rarely does it amount to the profound harm recently suffered by two men on both sides of the altercation. A motorcycle helmet camera captured shocking video of a recent accident in upper Manhattan.
The series of events began when a man was driving his Range Rover on the Henry Hudson Parkway. His wife and 2-year-old daughter were also in the SUV, and they quickly found themselves among a swarm of motorcyclists.
One of the bikers, a 22-year-old Queens man, swerved in front of the Range Rover and applied his brakes, causing the SUV to bump his rear tire. The SUV driver pulled over after the minor accident, but soon found his family vehicle under attack from multiple motorcyclists who used their helmets to smash the vehicle and its windows.
Fearing for his family’s safety, the man started driving and hit a few of the bikers. One of the motorcyclists suffered paralysis injuries.
The angry bikers then yanked the driver from his car and severely beat him in front of his wife and child. He was hospitalized with serious injuries but is expected to survive.
This story shows what may happen when people allow their tempers to take over while navigating New York City roadways. Backed by dozens of buddies, the bikers may have felt invincible and failed to think about what they would do if they were in the situation of the SUV driver.
If you or a loved one has been the victim of reckless or negligent behavior, before, during or after an accident, an experienced NYC personal injury attorney can help.
