On Saturday night, a woman was fatally hit while she crossed Queens Blvd. at 71st Ave. The silver minivan that struck her fled the scene, leaving the fatally injured 58-year-old laying in the Forest Hills intersection.
Police have not yet apprehended the driver, who, if caught, will certainly face criminal charges for the hit-and-run. The victim’s family would also have the opportunity to bring a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver.
Hit-and-run crashes do more than just injure or kill victims; they leave families struggling because they don’t receive answers to why the collision occurred. Nobody deserves to be in this situation, so it’s important for members of the community to step forward with any clues about the accident.
If you or a loved one has been seriously injured by a reckless or negligent driver, an experienced New York City pedestrian accident attorney can help you explore your legal options and take actions to protect your legal rights.
