Injured by a faulty tool? Who's responsible?

As a construction worker or laborer of any kind, you more than likely will be using equipment, tools and machinery in order to complete your job properly. If the proper safety measures and gear are not in use, or there is a defect with a tool, a worker can sustain serious injuries.

Hurt from a falling object at a work site-who's at fault?

Construction sites can be dangerous, especially in a place full of skyscrapers, like New York City. There is a significant danger that falling objects will cause serious harm when construction is being done on buildings that are several stories tall. Cranes, platforms or scaffolding collapsing and falling from hundreds of feet up can create devastating accidents down below. Even small objects, like a dropped power tool or shard of glass, can cause serious injury.

Why New York City crane accidents happen

If you work on a construction site in New York City, you know firsthand the pressures that contractors and subcontractors face. You also know that working conditions are complex and, when an accident occurs, it can be difficult to tell exactly why it happened and whose fault it really was.

Midtown Accident Shows Why Strict Crane Regulation Is Necessary

A 40-year-old man is dead after a crane collapsed in Midtown this morning. The construction accident occurred as a boom crane was transported via truck. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), 76 percent of crane accidents involve mobile or tower cranes - like the one at the scene today.

Trench Collapses And Other Excavation Accidents Prove Deadly

A Lower East Side construction worker was digging a 12-foot hole Wednesday when it suddenly collapsed, temporarily burying his entire body. Fellow workers and emergency responders worked for approximately one hour to free him. The man was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive, but many other construction workers in similar situations have perished.

Think It Is Safe To Walk Near A NYC Construction Site? Think Again

This time of year, it is difficult to go anywhere in the city without encountering construction sites. Of course, construction foremen and government regulators ensure that these zones are safe for residents, pedestrians and motorists, right?
